Child Sponsorship

For $40 every month, you will help a needy child with albinism and other vulnerable children in their community to rise against odds, and set him or her free from, hunger, systemic deprivation and poverty.

Since 2010, we have used more than 90% of our total program operating expenses for programs that benefit children, families, and communities.

What is child sponsorship?

SCOSP’s child sponsorship programs focus on improving the well-being of children in need, especially the most vulnerable. Child sponsorship pairs an individual sponsor with one child. When you sponsor a child, you help provide essentials like clean water, nutrition, education, and more as planned with the child’s community, while you connect through letters and photos. The goal of helping your sponsored child and other vulnerable children in their community is to break away from the systemic deprivation and the cycle poverty for good. Our programs are child-focused, and community based.

Why sponsor a child?

Sponsoring a child is the most personal, effective way to fight poverty. When you sponsor a child in need, you build a special relationship that encourages your child with hope for the future. Plus, your donations join forces with other sponsors to lift your child, their community, and other vulnerable children out of poverty for good. Everything we do has one aim – the sustained well-being of children. Your support helps pursue the physical, emotional, spiritual, and social well-being of vulnerable children.

Where can I sponsor a child?

You can sponsor a child in many areas around the country in Uganda:

  • The South western region
  • The Western Region
  • Central Region
  • The Eastern region
  • West Nile region

We are so passionate about helping to end poverty? Through donations SCOSP supports local staff to partner with communities to develop custom solutions for your child’s community that will last a lifetime.

Why sponsor a child through SCOSP?

Sponsoring a child through SCOSP is unique way of helping a needy child because we look at all the things that prevent children from surviving and thriving in their community.

Then we work with each sponsorship community to bring all the pieces of the puzzle together to build a better future for all children.

You can exchange letters and photos, and even visit your sponsored child, but we don’t just give sponsored children cash every month. We use our monthly general donations and leverage them for maximum impact. We call this our community development approach.

Depending on the needs of your sponsored child’s community, things like clean water systems, improved schools, health clinics, farming, and community savings groups create a vibrant, sustainable future for every child. And since all our of our staff work in their local regions, they know the culture and can help create tailored solutions for every community.

Every little bit counts we’re transparent and we maximize your impact!

Does SCOSP child sponsorship work?

Our child sponsorship program addresses the root causes of children’s vulnerability, empowering children, their families, and their communities to break away from the cycle of poverty. We take a comprehensive and integrated approach to community development, using evidence-based interventions in our programming that are externally validated. When we partner with communities, we start by inviting them to identify their greatest needs. Then we work together to develop a plan, equipping them with resources to address their specific challenges—like improving water and sanitation, health and nutrition, education, child protection, and spiritual nurture.

And it’s effective. Our holistic, participatory community-empowering approach is helping children and families transform their own lives.

Improve access to local health services for children: In Uganda, moms in rural areas travel long distances to get healthcare that is designed to boost newborn survival compared to mothers in urban areas.

With sponsorship kids thrive in school which they would ordinarily missed.

Water and Sanitation program: Water solutions are long-lasting: Most families have water shortages and children get a lot of problems walking long distances and long the way they get lots of problems and yet they waste a lot of time which would be used for doing their revision.

Young people are growing in their faith: In our sponsorship program children and youth willingly take part in activities like singing, dancing Sunday school and youth ministry.
